FTHS LIMBS International Club Helps to Change Lives Through Fundraiser
Students in the LIMBS International Club at Freehold Township High School recently learned that their fundraising efforts helped two people receive prosthetic legs.
Freehold Township’s club participated in LIMBS International’s Socktober program, which provides schools with the resources and materials needed to help provide legs to amputees who are in need. For every 75 packs of socks sold, LIMBS provided one leg to an amputee through partner clinics around the world.
Club advisor Yanci Merkel recently received word from LIMBS International that the school’s participation helped both a woman in Cambodia and a teenage boy in Liberia receive prosthetic limbs.
The LIMBS International Club at Freehold Township High School helps LIMBS International raise money to purchase prosthetic limbs for those in need. The club notes that there are about 30 million amputees around the world who are in need of help.
