Business Professionals Share Real Life Experiences with Students
Colts Neck High School teachers Cindy Bravaco and Robin Soriano know that it is important for students to hear about real life experiences. To make a connection to the world outside the classroom while making connections to the curriculum, Mrs. Bravaco and Mrs. Soriano, organized the school’s first Business Forum, which was sponsored by the school's DECA club. The event, which was open to Business Education students, featured a panel of seven business professionals from a variety of fields and at various stages of their careers.
The forum was held on October 16th and had approximately 200 students in attendance.
The seven professionals spoke to students about their different careers, how they started out, and even how they failed at times. They offered guidance to the teens, with the major theme throughout the discussion being love what you do. At the end of the discussion, students asked the panelists questions about their work, how they selected their field and for advice on internships.
The guest speakers included:
• Michael Newman, Scout Sports and Entertainment Marketing
• Greg Calderaro, Colts Neck Financial
• Susan Clark, Clark & Clark, LLC
• Weber Jacques, Chick-fil-A
• Steve Weinstein, Johnson & Johnson
• Bill Bladel, PIER Practice Solutions, LLC
• Evelyn Cutler, Poling & Cutler Marine Transportation
